Quite a bit! The level of customization depends on whether you’re purchasing a home already under construction or choosing one of our lots to build a custom home.
For homes already under construction, certain changes may be available depending on how far along the home is in the building process.
For custom homes, designing a floor plan completely from scratch may sound exciting, but we’ve found that it can quickly become time-consuming, overwhelming, and even stressful for buyers. There are so many decisions to make, and it’s very easy for costs to add up and for buyers to quickly find themselves over budget. Think of it like designing a brand-new car model for the first time. You’re essentially building a prototype, and chances are there will be a few kinks and unexpected expenses along the way!
That’s why we share some of our most popular, tried-and-true floor plans with our buyers, giving them options that we’ve continued to improve and refine over the years. And depending on the plan, certain modifications may be possible! We also think about the bigger picture when designing our homes. What works for you today is important, but so is having a floor plan that will appeal to future buyers if you ever decide to sell. After all, your home is also a pretty big investment!
And of course, there’s still plenty of room to make your home your own. Buyers can personalize many of their interior selections, including cabinetry, countertops, light fixtures, paint colors, tile, and more. We offer a variety of standard options, along with upgraded options depending on your preferences and targeted budget.
And you won’t have to figure it all out on your own. Our team will be there to walk you through your options, share what we’ve learned over the past 25+ years, and help you make decisions that make sense for your home, taste, and budget.
How much does it cost to build a custom home with Crown Heritage?
Every home is a little different! Pricing depends on several factors, including the size of the home, floor plan, lot, and design selections.

Let’s Build Something BeautifulHow long does it typically take to build a custom home?
It truly depends on the size, caliber, and complexity of the home!
For example, a home around 3,000 square feet typically takes about 2–3 months in the design phase, followed by approximately 10 months of construction once we break ground.
As a general rule of thumb, 11–13 months from design to completion is a good starting estimate. Of course, every home is unique, and timelines may vary depending on the size and scope of your project.
Do I need to own a lot before starting the custom homebuilding process?
Not at all! Crown Heritage has a selection of available lots in some of El Paso’s most desirable neighborhoods where you can build your custom home.

Yes, we do! In addition to custom builds, we often have move-in-ready homes and homes in various stages of construction available for purchase. Depending on how far along construction is, buyers may still have the opportunity to personalize certain finishes, colors, and selections.

Crown Heritage is a family-owned and operated homebuilder with generations of construction experience and over 25 years of building homes in El Paso. Our family name and reputation are behind every home we build, and that’s something we take seriously.
We’ve also made a conscious decision to specialize exclusively in luxury custom homes rather than building across multiple price points. This allows us to focus our experience, team, tradespeople, and materials on the type of homes we know and love building. Our goal has never been to build the most homes, but to build distinctive homes with thoughtful designs, quality materials, and attention to detail.
And we believe quality starts long before the finishing touches. That’s why our homes include features like 2×6 exterior walls, full OSB wall sheathing, and Bosch appliances as standard offerings—features that may be considered upgrades elsewhere.
We also intentionally take on a limited number of projects each year. This allows us to stay closely involved in every build, with the quality control, oversight, and attention to detail we’d want in our personal homes.
We’ve chosen to do things this way because we believe it allows us to better serve our buyers. We understand that for our buyers, this isn’t just another construction project. It’s their future home, and we believe that deserves a different level of care and personal attention.
